3 Days Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary Tour: This tour will take you to Uganda’s only Chimpanzee Island found on Lake Victoria where you will see rescued chimpanzees that have attained and received safety, care and astonishing love on this attractive island.
The sanctuary was established in 1998. With the main aim of taking care to the orphaned chimpanzees most especially those rescued from the wild poachers. The rescued chimpanzees found new home and friend ships fellow chimpanzees and caregivers on this island.
The island is a home to about 51 rescued chimpanzees of which 46 of them are orphaned and the 3 are the lucky born on this island. Out of the 51 chimpanzee’s 31 females and 20 are males.
Detailed Itinerary for 3 Days Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary Tour
Day 1: Travel to Ngamba Island
You will be picked up by our safari guide/ guide either from the airport or Hotel in Entebbe international airport, get you briefed about the safari. Later he will transfer you to Ngamba Island chimpanzee Trekking. The drive from Entebbe to the island takes about 45 minutes. Basing on the time you reach, you might find the chimpanzees being fed. Whereby you will watch them feed and play and could also take part in feeding them. Upon your arrival, you will get to the restaurant for lunch and the in the evening you visit the neighboring communities and also interact with them. Later come back for dinner and an overnight stay at the tented Camp on the Island.
Day 2: Forest walk and Chimpanzee trekking
After a hearty breakfast at the camp, embark on a forest walk looking for orphanage chimpanzees that reside at the island, however make sure you have approved medical requirements. It will be a great and exclusive experience as you will watch the playful chimpanzees, they might pull your hair, hold your hand or even climb you which makes it astonishing! Remember that this walk is limited to 3 people at a time. After this wonderful experience return at the restaurant for relaxation and lunch, and later in the after, you will go for a sunset boat cruise on the Lake Victoria. This delightful experience lasts for an 1 hour. You will be able to see the nice sights around the lake, birds, land-forms, fishing grounds, together with watching the sun go down. Head back to the Island and have dinner and an overnight at the tented Camp
Day 3: Transfer back to Entebbe -The mainland
After morning hearty breakfast, embark on the transfer back to Entebbe the main land on a speedboat, on your way you could have a stopover at the equator, take as many photos as you want. Later proceed to the mainland where you will meet your guide to transfer you back to the Airport or the hotel.
